Why We're Running
Members For Change is a slate of working IAM members from across District 142. We come from different carriers, different locals, and different classifications. We are running because the people who do the work should have a direct say in how the union is run.
Transparency means the books are open, the decisions are explained, and the rationale is on the record. Members should not have to file a records request to find out where their dues go or how their local's bargaining priorities were set. District meetings will be open to any member who wants to attend. The information stops being something you hear about and starts being something you can see.
Accountability means the officers who take the oath are answerable to the members who elected them. If a decision goes wrong, the answer is not a press release. It is a phone call, a fix, and a plan to keep it from happening again. We will keep the grievance pipeline visible to members, document every contract proposal that comes up for a vote, and hold district-wide Q&As so members across every local have a direct line to the people asking for their vote.
Solidarity is not a slogan on a t-shirt. It is the practice of showing up: for each other's grievances, for each other's locals, for each other's carriers. A member in Anchorage should not have to fight alone because their carrier is small. A member in Oklahoma should not lose leverage because their classification is different. We are running as one slate, across the locals we represent, because the strength of any one local is the strength of every local.
The members on this slate are not politically bound to any decision before it is made. We are running on these core principles, full stop.
The slate is still being built. Three vice president seats remain open. Twelve general chair positions are unfilled. We are talking with members at every local who want to run, and we will add names to the ballot as nominations close. If you want to be considered, the form below is the place to start.
